SUCCESS HABITS

WHAT IS SUCCESS IF NOT GOOD HABITS?
Habits of Successful People.

Habit is an action performed on a regular basis. This can also be seen as an action performed repeatedly and automatically, usually without awareness.
As Tryon Edward said, “Any act often repeated soon forms a habit; and habit allowed steadily gains in strength. At first it may be as a spider’s web, easily broken through, but if not resisted, it soon binds us with chains of steal.”
You are where you are and what you are because of yourself. Everything you are today or ever will be in the future, is up to you. Your life today is the sum total of your choices, decisions and actions up to this point. You can create your own future by changing your behavior (habits).

Remember! “You are the architect of your life and your life is in your hand, always do the right thing at the right time”. As I do say that “only an open mind can interprete quotes”, your life is in your hand means, you own habits (behavior) which determine your success in life.
“You can make new choices and decisions that you are consistent with the person you want to be and things you want to accomplish with your life” Brian Tracy.

One thing that you should help yourself to achieve now is to form a good habit. The difference between a failure and a successful person is in their habit. Your good habit creates your opportunity. The habits you create today will create your tomorrow. It will give you access to good things of life.
Seven Habits that can make One Succeed in Life.

Seven Habits that can make One Succeed in Life.
Brian Tracy identified seven habits of a successful people.
They are Goal Oriented.
They are Result Driven.
They are Action Oriented.
They are people Oriented.
They are Health Conscious.
They are Honest.
They are Self-Disciplined.

It is said that, success is not a matter of chance but a matter of choice and that choice is in your habit. Take a good look at successful people; you will discover that the real success in them is in their habit.

Common fact about successful people:
They get up early.
They read a lot.
They have multiple incomes.
They are not time wasters.
They set aside 15 – 30 minutes each day for critical thinking.
They involve in consistent exercise.
They get enough rest.
They spend time with people who are inspired.
They pursue their own goal.
They make good use of people around them.
They value people.
They have the power of networking.

Always remember that your habit represents you and your attitudes today will always be registered in people’s mind which will give definition about you. Don’t see failure as a problem; rather see it as challenges and obstacles that lead ones to success. Failure is a redirection to success.
Your habits will make people know your worth and ability. So, what habits are you known for? Value people, respect people connect with people of great value(s) and read good books.

TIPS TO NEAT AND LEGIBLE HANDWRITING.

What is Handwriting?

What comes to your mind when you heard the word handwriting…

According to Wikipedia, handwriting is the writing done with a writing instrument, such as pen or pencil, in the hand. Handwriting includes both printing and cursive style and is different from formal calligraphy or typeface. Because each handwriting is unique and different from one another, it can be used to verify a document’s writer.

Scholars View on Handwriting

Handwriting is both nature and nurture. Scholar agreed that handwriting is not inherited. It is learned, (copied from someone directly consciously or unconsciously).

According to Richard Fraser, a handwriting analysis expert and forensic handwriting examiner in Westwood, Mass. “If a person experiences a traumatic event, their handwriting may change,” Fraser said. “Handwriting reflects a person’s personality and state of mind; an organized person will most likely take care to make sure that every letters is neatly written.”

Take the below Task before we discuss the Tips to Neat and Legible Handwriting:

  • Take a look at your handwriting.
  • Identify your imperfections.
  • Decide the reason for wanting to improve. (The willingness to improve is in you).
  • Get the right materials, because the types of pen or pencil used to write can determine the result of your handwriting.
  • Get inspired by handwriting that impress you, (remember scholar agreed that handwriting is learned by copying from your preferred.
  • Stretch your hands and wrists, hold your pen at the writing tip.
  • Purchase a handwriting course book (2D Exercise Book among others)
  • Try to write alphabet letters properly.
  • Refrain from applying excessive pressure to your writing.
  • Set aside some time for constant practice.
  • Make handwriting a daily part of your life.
  • Copy the handwriting you admire.
  • Perform a handwriting self audit.

Tips to Neat and Legible Handwriting

A neat and legible handwriting is easy to read and it shows consistency /cognizance of some tips.

The following are major tips to neat and legible handwriting:

  • Form
  • Spacing
  • Size
  • Slanting
  • Alignment

1.       Form:

Stick to one form of letter throughout the entire composition.

If you are writing in cursive, don’t exaggerate the loops.

The main body of the letters (a, b, d, g, o, p and q), should be closed.

If it’s not completely closed, it can be mistaken as a different letter and might confuse the reader.

Sample of closed and not completely closed writing.

2.       Spacing: (Letter Spacing),

Keep the letters close to each other, but make sure their parts don’t touch.

The distance between words should be as wide as lowercase letter “n”.

If you have troubles estimating and maintaining uniform spaces between the words, try to use physical spacers such as stick or a pen.

3.       Size

Uppercase Letters: this should be taller than lowercase letters.

The size of all uppercase letters should be consistent.

Lowercase Letters: These are divided into 3 groups as follows (Tall, Short and Hanging).

Tall: (b, d, f, h, k, l, t).

  • Tall letters have ascenders
  • Ascenders should be clear
  • The size of all ascenders should be consistent

Short:         (a, e, i, o, u, c, m, n, r, s, v, w, x, z).

Hanging:    (g, j, p, q, y).

  • Hanging letters have descenders.
  • Descenders should be clear.
  • The size of all descenders should be consistent.
This size of the “main body” of all lowercase letters should be consistent

Tangled letters: to avoid having tangled letters, make your ascenders and descenders not too long.

4.       Slanting: stick to one type of letter slant.

If your letters are tilted to the left or to the right, make sure you don’t overdo the slanting as it will be difficult to read.

5.       Alignment: the placement of letters should be parallel with the horizontal line.

OTHER HELPFUL TIPS:

  • For a smoother writing surface, place a pad of paper underneath the sheet that you will be writing.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • You must understand that different situations require different levels of speed and neatness. For instance, a quick grocery list be written faster (and less neatly) than filling out a passport application form.
  • Your class note often needs to be written quickly. It’s completely acceptable if they are not neat as long as you can still read them.
  • If you are writing for an examination , homework, project, and other piece of work that are intended for others to be read and evaluated, then that’s the time that you have to make sure that your handwriting is completely legible (and perhaps, neat).

THE JOURNEY OF LIFE (Don’t End it before it Ends)

JOURNEY OF LIFE (Don’t End it before it Ends)
The Journey of life, this sound so simple but logical. Life is like imagination, you can define it the way it occurs to you. Many scholars had tried so hard to identify what life is all about, but they end up defining life as it occurs to them.

Hummmmm…… The journey of life, I want to believe your mind is open, because a closed mind can never understand a parable. You wondering why it is so difficult to understand or comprehend a quote. You know why? Is because quotes are people’s imaginations and thought(s), and it’s so difficult to understand imaginative word(s) with a closed mind.

Lolz…… Seriously, life is so funny. Do you know life is like an egg? You neither can’t hold it too tight nor too lightly.
I can’t just stop laughing when it comes to imagining what life is all about, and seeing my pen dancing while so many thought(s) comes to my mind. In a journey of life, not everyone that started with you will end with you, some will just appear in your life at a short period of time and leave while some will stay forever in your life, but they will always leave you with a foot print (impact), either positive or negative as it occurs to you. Don’t see those that left your life as your enemy or a traitor rather see them as a visitor in your journey of life.
Whenever you miss any opportunity in life never sees it as the end of life rather sees it as journey of life, yes, remember every opportunity is not meant for you.

Imagine! God is so wonderful and marvelous to us, He changes light to darkness and darkness to light (Day and Night), He replace moon for stars, rain for sun, death from life vice versa (resurrection of Man and Plant). You will agree with me that many of us don’t see all those changes as favour from God, we rather keep complaining about what life brought to us.

Redefining life is the beginning of success. The definition you give to life will determine how life will be to you. Some of those things that delayed our success in life are: our attitude towards life, mindset and fear to take action/risk.

Suicide! Suicide!! Suicide!!! (Failure shouldn’t be the end)
You will notice that suicide has become the common act among the youth as a result of depression among others. In the first place, suicide shouldn’t be an option, but because we don’t understand what life is all about. We find it difficult to manage every obstacles and challenges life brought to us. Don’t see obstacles and challenges as a problem or end of life rather sees it as a phase of life.
If you are thinking of success, you should also think of failure as well. No success story without failure. So, when failure comes our way, let take it as part of life and move on. Never see life as the end because of failure.

Why Failure is so important
Failure, as much as it hurts, is an important part in life. In fact, failure is necessary.
Many had failed many times than we’re like to admit. And I’m not talking about small failures; I’m talking about the kind of failures that rock your world, completely altering the landscape of your relationships, finances, and mental-wellbeing.
In fact, failure is life’s great teacher; it’s nature’s chisel that chips away at all the excess, stripping down egos as it molds and shapes us through divine intentions.
Without failure, we’d be less capable of compassion, empathy, kindness, and great achievement; we would be less likely to reach for the moon and the stars.
It’s through failure that we learn the greatest lessons that life could teach us.

What is Failure?
What failure really is? Why is it so important to fail at something before we can succeed?
How some people think about failure? They think of things of negative result, We say that failure is painful and that it causes emotional turmoil and upset, and inflict agonizing pangs of guilt, regret, and remorse.
But, for those that have known true failure, and have bounced back from it, understand that failure in life is necessary for success. Sure, failing hurts. In fact, it cuts deep like a razor, slicing its way to our inner core. Yet, it’s necessary.
And the most successful people in life have failed the most times. If you try to go through life without failing at anything, then you’re not really living a life at all. Taking risks and falling down flat on our faces is part of life; it makes us into who we are.

Dear you, it’s high time I remind you of that baby you knew so well, yes, I mean that baby that grew up in your presence, yes, I mean that baby you watched after when he/she was about to walk.

Can you count how many times the baby fell down as a result of trying to walk? When a baby started learning to walk, he’s going to fall down many times. This, in fact, is failure. But, ask any mother about their baby’s ability to walk and she will wholeheartedly declare that her baby will one day walk. She might fall down many times, but he/she will surely walk.

Why is the mother so confident that her son/daughter will walk? Of course, we all know the answer to that. We know that falling and failing while learning to walk is just a part of life. So, why isn’t failure at other things treated this way?
What we failed to realise was that some people had to fail in order to get to where they are in life. Like the baby learning to walk, they had to fall and fail many times.

What is the problem? Society tends to celebrate the successes rather than highlighting the epic journeys towards success that are filled with trials, tribulations, upsets, setbacks, and failures. It’s not as glamorous to talk about those things.

Why it’s so necessary to Fail?
In life, it’s necessary to fail. Failure is a steppingstone. In fact, there are 6 very powerful life lessons that failure helps to teach and instill in us. If you’ve recently failed at something in a major ways, and you’re going through a difficult time right now, keep these important lessons in mind.
Lesson 1: Experience
Lesson 2: Knowledge
Lesson 3: Resilience
Lesson 4: Growth
Lesson 5: Value
Lesson 6: Strong

How to Recover from Failure.
There are many ways to recover from failure. Once you understand what failure is, and how it’s meant to serve us rather than hinder us, you’ll free your mind and open your heart to experience the joy of failure. Below are ways to recover from failure;

1 – Ignore the Naysayers.

2 – Understanding that failure is part of your journey in life.

3 – Don’t see failure as a problem.

4 – Accept your failure as a result of your mistake.

5 – Identify Your Mistakes and make necessary correction.

6 – Revisit Your Goals

7 – Create a Massive Plan

8 – Using Failure as Leverage

Suicide is never an option; it cut short ones dream, goal and aspiration in the journey of life. Majority of people who commit suicide thought they only end their life, unknowingly to them, they also caused so many confusion and it’s disastrous to other people and the society at large.
If truly we want to end suicide, we need to understand the journey of life and as well see our failure as part of our journey in life and not a problem.

According to Albert Einstein, he says and I quote “Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
Life doesn’t only guarantee us success, but also failure. So, handle your failure with care and never think of committing suicide. Don’t be a reason why someone has to think of ending his/her life.

Dear youths, parents, teachers and leaders, let endeavour to play our roles positively. Don’t make life difficult for others; never use your position or every opportunity to take advantage of others. Remember, we are all together in this journey of life. Remember, there is journey after journey (Journey of Grave and Journey of Resurrection).

WHY ARE YOU DIFFERENT?

Self Discovery: (Self Awareness, Interest Awareness, Hopes and Dreams and Career Discovery).

WHY ARE YOU DIFFERENT?

Author: GIWA YUSSUF O.

INTRODUCTION

{“Discovering who you are today is the first step to being who you will be tomorrow”. Destinys Odyssey}
Have you ever imagined the soil under your feet, but you may be surprised at the complexity of soil. Soil varies in its composition and the structure of its particles, and these factors are closely examined by farmers, who need appropriate soil for planting crops, as well as engineers who may need to understand how soil is going to hold up under different demands. Soil is also vitally important to the sustainability of an ecosystem because it serves as the natural medium for the growth of vegetation.
This study is not focusing on teaching the concept of soil but relating soil to Self Discovery. If soil can be so important, you are more important only if you can discover yourself that is your personality type (self-discovery).
Research made us understand the importance of soil based on their types which are complexity, structure, particle and composition so every individual different from one another and are of different personalities, Character and complexity.

So, what exactly is Soil? (Dr. Gillaspy R.), Defined soil as organic and inorganic materials on the surface of the earth that provide the medium for plant growth. Soil develops slowly over time and is composed of many different materials. Inorganic materials, or those materials that are not living, include weathered rocks and minerals. Weathering is the mechanical or chemical process by which rocks are broken down into smaller pieces. As rocks are broken down, they mix with organic materials, which are those materials that originate from living organisms. For example, plants and animals die and decompose, releasing nutrients back into the soil.

Types of Soil
“I wasn’t searching for something or someone. I was searching for me”. Carrie Bradshaw
There are three basic types of soil: sand, silt and clay. But, most soils are composed of a combination of the different types. How they mix will determine the texture of the soil, or, in other words, how the soil looks and feels.
One type of soil is sand. Sand within soil is actually small particles of weathered rock. Sand is fairly coarse and loose so water is able to drain through it easily. While this is good for drainage, it is not good for growing plants because sandy soil will not hold water or nutrients.
Silt is another type of soil. Silt can be thought of as fine sand, and it will hold water better than sand. If you were to hold a handful of dry silt in your hand, it would feel almost like flour. If you were to add water to the silt in your hand, it would do a fair job of holding the water and feels slick and smooth.
Clay is very fine-grained soil. Its particles are even smaller than silt, so there is very little space between the fine grains for air or water to circulate. Therefore, clay does not drain well or provide space for plant roots to flourish. If you were a farmer, you would not want your field to be mostly clay. However, if you were a potter, you would think clay was the best type of soil. When moisture is added to clay, it can be molded into shapes, such as a pottery bowl or a building brick.
Now, we can consider Loam soil as our fourth type of soil, even though it is really a combination of sand, silt and clay. Loam will vary depending on how much of each component is present, but generally if you are gardener, this is the type of soil you want because it holds moisture, but also allows for good drainage. If you were to hold loam in your hand, you could mold it into a ball, but the ball would easily crumble when disturbed. Aside the above mentioned, there are peaty soil and chalky soil.
Now that you can differentiate between soils, its time you know yourself and why you are different. But before you dive into that mode, its good to take a step back and think about some few questions.
Why do you need to know yourself?
What is it that excites and motivates you?
Let get one fundamental truth straight before we continue: knowing yourself is going to be a great task. It might be the most challenging endeavour you’ve ever taken on. Thats why its crucial to understand the “Why” behind knowing yourself (Self-Discovery).

WHY ARE WE DIFFERENT? (Individual Differences)
Every living thing exists on the soil, live on the soil, eat from the soil, drink from the soil, make use of the soil and also go back to the soil. Yet, you still think you dont need to know who Mr. Soil is. Only if you can understand soil so you can understand the natural being you are. So many things determine who you are such as your Nature, Nurture, and Environment. Study show that all this forms how you THINK, JUDGE and BEHAVE today.

{“The way for you to grow is to know about yourself”, Amaral}

You will agree with me that knowing the differences in soil made it easy for us to understand the uses and importance in respect to our needs. So every human being is different from one another and has different importance in the face of life. It takes you a great chance/effort in life to know your differences.

Self-Discovery is a lifelong journey of experience through our inner self, trying to discover who we are, our potential, our purpose in life, and what core principles are guiding us to take different paths along the way.
The process of gaining understanding of oneself and ones motivations and needs.
Becoming aware of ones true potential, character, motive etc.

Process of Self-Discovery
Self awareness
Interest awareness
Hopes and Dreams
Career Discovery

CONCLUSION
(Ask Yourself)
How are you different and why would someone choose you? You can be chosen by making a difference, that your colleague are going to library after class doesnt mean that you should go to library without knowing why, what, and when about library. Dont follow crowd and leave yourself behind. Many has failed not because they dont do it well or put in the best. But they had failed because they are doing the wrong thing at the right time or they are doing the right thing at the wrong time.

Why some people are celebrated ahead others? They were celebrated because they have made a difference which you are yet to. Nobody is better than other just our differences that make us better. If you can identify yourself that is when you will know you are the best of yourself. Then, you will know your value and worth in life. You will notice that some products/services outsmart others in the world of work because they make a difference.

What can you do that the world will stop and notice what you are doing? You need to know that there is no new thing in the world. People can only notice you when you make a difference. You can modify through your creative thinking when you understand yourself, you can have the best career when you understand yourself, your can have the best marriage if you understand yourself. Only if you know yourself then you can know what you want.
